 Recording Veterans Discharge Paperwork

Per Pennsylvania Statute of 1868, Act 37, the Recorder of Deeds office is authorized to record military discharge papers of all veterans, commonly known as form DD214 and NGB22.
Recording veterans discharge paperwork with the Recorder of Deeds office safeguards these important documents in the case of loss, damage or natural disaster of the original document. The Recorder of Deeds will retain an image of the veteran’s DD214 in perpetuity on our secure database. Only the veteran, immediate family member, authorized agent by written request, or the director of the department of veterans' affairs can request copies of these documents.
Military discharge papers are the only documents that we do not make public.

Recording Your Discharge Documents
Veterans should bring their DD214 (military discharge papers) and a photo identification card (such as a Pennsylvania Drivers’ License) with them to our office for recording. There is no fee to record military discharge papers.

Veterans' ID Card*
The Lebanon County Recorder of Deeds encourages all veterans to record their DD214s for safekeeping.  All veterans who record their DD214s are eligible to be issued a Veterans ID Card.  It only takes minutes to issue a card.   Veterans will be able to present these cards to businesses throughout our region that have agreed to provide a discount to Lebanon County veterans in appreciation for their service to our country.

Encouraging Businesses to Participate in Veterans’ Discount Program*
The Recorder’s Office is asking all Lebanon County businesses to consider participating in the Veterans’ discount program.
Enrollment is easy.
Participants are asked to give 30 days written notice if they plan to withdraw from the program.
Merchants provide discounts to veterans at a percentage of the cost or a specific dollar amount.
This is a unique opportunity for businesses to advertise their products or services, increase their customer base, and most importantly, show their appreciation to our veterans who have served to protect our freedoms.

Download an application to become a participating merchant and help us honor our veterans.

*Disclaimer
Participating merchants are separate and independent entities from the Lebanon County Recorder of Deeds Office. Such merchants provide discounts on goods and services on a voluntary basis, and will not necessarily self-identify as being part of the Lebanon County Veterans’ Discount ID program. Although participating merchants are asked by the Recorder of Deeds to give 30-days written notice if they would like to withdrawal from the program, and every effort is made to keep this list current, the Lebanon County Recorder of Deeds Office cannot warrant or guarantee that the merchants will provide the discounts. Accordingly, veterans should present their Lebanon County Veterans’ ID card at the time of initial purchase or transaction and ask for the discount as listed to ensure the merchant’s ongoing participation and terms. The Lebanon County Recorder of Deeds Office does not control, warrant or make representations or endorsements as to the accuracy or quality of the goods and services provided by the participating merchants, nor does the Lebanon County Recorder of Deed’s Office endorse, recommend, or favor any views expressed, or products or services offered by, the participating merchants.
